Cooper's Point, Camden, N.J., from the east side of Smith's Island, looking up
the Delaware River, 1864.On February 10th, 1843, after the ferry boat 'Dido',
from Market Street wharf passed through the canal and was near Camden, N.J. Singleton
Mercer shot and killed Hutch Herberton, who occupied a backseat in a closed carriage
on board the boat fleeing from the vengeance of a brother whose sister he had
